Forbes Field Boxcar
From 1909 until 1970, baseball fans in the Pittsburgh area were treated to America’s pastime at one of the nation’s finest ballpark’s, Forbes Field. Few stadiums can boast the history of Forbes Field. Sunny afternoons watching home favorites like Wagner, Kiner and Clemente, and visiting stars like Jackie Robinson gave the Pittsburgh fans countless thrills. Babe Ruth’s 714th and final home run blast was the first to ever clear the right field roof in a historic three homer game for the ages. In 1948, the one-of-a-kind Bob Prince, nicknamed the “Gunner” began his calling games and was a mainstay for almost thirty years. And, who could ever forget the famous Bill Mazeroski ninth inning home run to beat the Yankees in the 1960 World Series.

MTH Electric Trains is proud to commemorate this famous part of Pittsburgh history with a special boxcar bearing the image of Forbes Field. Available only through participating Pittsburgh Model Railroad Cooperative Retailers, this limited edition RailKing Double-Door Boxcar is sure to be a hit with all Western Pennsylvania baseball and train fans.
